#1: We found our chest freezer had been leaking for who knows how long and because it leaked it got into some of the material and it smelled like something rotting. Now we did try and see how much it would cost to repair and well just for someone to come out and look at it, well it was what we paid for the chest freezer like 6-7 years ago. So I had a look and found a slightly larger chest freezer for only a little more than what it would cost us for someone to come out and have a look at the old one to see if it could be fixed. So now we have a new chest freezer that I will be having to move into place and transfer the food over to the new one. We have been debating if we put this one in our brick shed just for emergencies.
#2 Our son has a thing about chewing things and he managed to somehow get our vacuum clearer cord into their room and uh chewed the cord. I personally don't feel safe about trying to splice it and wrap it with electric tape and use it. So I made the decision to look for a cheaper new vacuum, I ended up getting a wet and dry vacuum with a stainless drum. I did this because it would make my life easier especially when I have to clean out the ash from the wood burning stove (cold ash to be clear). Plus when I clean our carpet with the carpet cleaner it does not seem to suck up the water so well so this should help. I have used the vacuum and it works so much better than the old one!
#3 we have been trying to finish our kitchen remodel since we started in 2020, to be fair the major work is done and the cabinets have been installed since then. However we do need to sand down our wood work tops again and reseal them and install the lower cabinet sliding doors. Along with painting the cabinets,wall and wallpapering. Well we recently found a wallpaper we both like and paint that we like that would go with the wallpaper, The wallpaper was discounted to £12 a roll from around £20-£22 a roll thankfully we only needed 3 rolls! We will get the paint in Aug or Sept, but we felt we needed to get the wallpaper now. Check out the sample of wallpaper & paint below.
#4 I had to buy another pot insert for my Ninja foodi 9-in-1, so now I have one pot for strictly air frying/baking and the other for soups,stews, yogurt etc. I also bought an angel food cake tin for it I also got 10% off my order. Now quick tip I have found that by making a account and adding stuff to my shopping basket if I leave it for a day or two I will get a email with 10% coupon so maybe this will work for you and you can save a little money too!
We did agree that the rest of July we would not spend money unless we really had to. I have taken it one step further and I will not really be buying any groceries this week (with a few exceptions though), we do have plenty of food in our freezers, cupboards,pantry, preparedness pantry you get the idea. So I can easily make our own bread and yogurt I also have powdered milk we can make up and use as I need to use it and replace it sometime down the line. We have agreed that we will do at least one no/low spend week each month and try a no spend month in Oct, however we did agree if we found the wallpaper we liked for the living room and dinning room on sale we would go ahead and buy it. I will admit we like a good deal like the vacuum being on sale, a percentage off an order and the wallpaper being on sale/discount! I did look and we did get the cheapest on the stuff we bought. Yes this is something we both admit is a fault in both of us and we are working together to overcome it, baby steps people baby steps.
